Town Fortifications
In addition to the tower and ramparts, the defensive system of the town included forward fortifications at strategic elevated places.
Only small parts of the town walls have been preserved, the largest of which is on the northern edge of the centre along the Jihlava River. At present, you can see the rest of the forward fortification at Hrádek. Originally a two-storey circular stone tower with loopholes was surrounded by a moat and a palisade. The nearby stone mound was built in 1924 as a reminder of 500 years since the death of Jan Žižka of Trocnov.
